Technology Support

Since 2008 I have responded to over 25,000 emails addressing the technical needs of students, staff and community members. I have also learned how to use almost every program within the district in order to provide personalized assistance and training to our students and staff.

21st Century Classrooms

Getting technology into the hands of our students and staff has been a priority since moving into this role. Using competitive in-house grants we were able to eventually outfit almost every classroom with a document camera, smart board and projector. We have also introduced a number of mobile labs to each of our buildings to further access.

Windows 7 Upgrade / District Image

  • worked to move the district out of XP service pack 2
  • worked to streamline all programs to reduce amount of software downloaded to machines
  • tested adult and student images and approved before installed
  • pushing of icons rather than locally installs programs
  • worked to implement folder redirection from roaming profiles

Lightspeed Internet Filter

  • design filter structure for students and staff
  • monitor filter reports
  • unblock/block websites on request
  • search user history and build reports for administration and police departments

Wireless Network Upgrade

(initiated, researched, designed or assisted in design structure, continue to monitor)

The new system divides access types for increased wireless speed, reports current users and user history, and alerts when access points fail. The system also blocks guest users from accessing our network.

Remote Desktop Assistance

  • initiated usage of remote desktop assistance within district to increase productivity and address technical assistance requests more efficiently and in a more timely manner.

District Walkthroughs

(initiated, researched, designed or assisted in design structure, continue to monitor)

  • complete district walkthroughs three times a year with Director of Technology to determine areas of concern or technical assistance/redesign/improvement. Data is collected, analyzed and distributed to appropriate members of staff to remedy issues.

Printing

(initiated, researched, designed or assisted in design structure, continue to monitor)

  • replacing of inkjet printers with laser with more cost efficient lasers
  • reducing number of printers / printer types in the district
  • moving to networking printing when possible rather than local printing
  • worked with BOCES senior to map printers to location via policy so to not have to physically touch each machine
  • mapping of wireless devices to network printer within specific areas of the building/district
  • installing print monitoring software on network printers to view reports on over printing / relocation of printers / printing redesign within district

Transportation Software

  • remapped manual routes in 2012-2013 (reduced by 5 runs)
  • continues mapping for district 2013-14 and 2014-15
  • designed bus pass communication and automated bus passes to save clerical time and streamline bussing

Technical/Building Requests System

  • moved from antiquated Tech help system in 2006

  • Assignable, 2-way communication, searchable requests
  • email alert for submitted Tech Requests to all department
  • worked on and monitor the nightly export from eSchool into Transfinder

  • designed and implemented system for LIVE streaming of events (awards, graduation, concerts, programs)
  • designed and implemented means of showcasing recorded events through and on-demand portal. This is now available for all teacher to include in their website.

District/Teacher Websites

  • design and maintained website since 2001 (over 500 pages)
  • design and train teachers how to use teacher websites
  • design and maintain online calendar, RSS Feeds, Sporting Calendar, Destination Mapping and more

Student Management System

  • support for staff (grade book, grade book setup, reports)
  • support for students (student portal - trained students how to access, got this up and running in district)
  • monitor student exports for errors/inconsistencies with data uploads to student programs

District Digital Signage

  • designed, implemented and maintain the digital signage throughout the district
  • implemented a K-12 signage system so all building are aware of events

Morning Announcements

  • designed morning announcement studios at each building
  • support and train students and staff how to use equipment/software
  • designed LIVE showing and on-demand recordings

District Servers

(worked with BOCES senior reduce numbers of servers and maximize security/uptime of servers)

  • assisted in design for moving students to virtual server (building servers maxed out)
  • assisted in design for moving staff to virtual server (building servers maxed out)

District iPads (over 200 devices)

  • design and maintain District’s Apple Account for VPP (purchasing of apps)
  • design and maintain distribution of all Apps
  • design and maintain Apple Deployment System to permanently link iPad to district
  • designed and maintain Meraki Device Management System to manage all iPads and Apps

District SmartBoards

  • train users how to use SmartNotebook and other software programs on the interactive whiteboard
  • troubleshoot issues and assist staff with solutions
  • recently worked with SMART to obtain 28 replacement boards and 2 projectors ($60,000 value)

  • manage and monitor all district purchased Apps

District Chromebooks
